Transparent Eyeball

School project. x_x Plz don't fullview, it looks better when it's smaller.

My American Lit class started its Transcendentalism unit a short while ago, and one of the first things we read was an excerpt from Ralph Waldo Emerson's Nature. There's a certain quote in it that my teacher loves, and it goes like such:

"I become a transparent eyeball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or parcel of God."

Of course, for a project, we had to do an artistic interpretation of the essence of said quote.

I got this idea when I was absolutely failing at sleep last night. The whole world, the entire scope of nature itself, is condensed into one glass eye that sees and contemplates all and simply IS, while at its core is a deep-rooted connection to the Oversoul. Inside it, every aspect of nature exists in an almost unnatural brightness, a clarity and pureness of being coveted by those who truly seek it. I wanted to emphasize not just the green, forest-y nature that most people associate with Transcendentalist writings, but everything... all the seasons, and environments ranging from the barren to the fertile, and condense all of it into one single existence.

Aside from that lovely blurb of half-assed poetry up there, I'm not honestly all that proud of this. It was going well through the space background, and then I realized that I hate painting glass, especially with stuff inside it. You'd think because I have 5894205840 fish tanks in my house, I'd know how it's done, but meh. I gave up not far into it. I think I managed to at least somewhat salvage it near the end, but I sort of stopped caring. So take it how you will, I'm tired and haven't had a great past few days.

I really should start standardizing my watermark so I don't have to paint it by hand on every drawing. Urgh. No more digital-only things for a while, I'm going to stick with having traditional lines. Expect new stuff soon enough, once I get back on track with NaNo and can actually take a breather, dammit. x_x
